Finishing a project feels so good. Of course, any proper project is never really finished.

First, I got the Avida-ED port working on Windows. Avida-ED is an experimental platform to teach principles of evolution. There's much more to it, but that's the rough overview. So now anybody with a PC can try it out. Took me a good half-year almost, but it's done.

Second, and probably far more interesting to all the Warcraft lovers out there, is a new addon I'm developing. How many times have you grouped with somebody, only to find out they're a total twink? Wishing we could brand them with a big scarlet T? Well, I have the solution. Click below for more :).

Oh, and btw, HotNightElfOrNot.com is still available for anyone interested.

So I was watching the MSU/Michigan game via ESPN's GameCast (not all games will have GameCast enabled), which is a pretty sexy interface if you don't have TV. Got me thinking about the data driving it. There's a lot of data ESPN must be typing into the backend in real-time. What format are they storing and transferring that data in? Naturally made me think of XML, and the possibility of an open interchange format for describing Football games.

Implemented a research service for Office's research task pane this weekend. It provides an interface to MSU Libraries' Digital Collections. For more details click below. Includes screenshots.

Eventually, I want to provide the ability to drag digital objects right into the document you're working on.

I spent the weekend working on integrating our Library catalog with Amazon. Should have been working on more important things, but this is cool.

I've enclosed the details in a cut, because there are some big pictures.

Ugh, just spent several hours setting up MRTG on a customers system because our new support policy says we're going to help dedicated customers install 3rd party applications. But enough bitching, this post really isn't about that.

This post is about playing with cool technologies. Namely, FOAF, OPML, and XSLT. If you want to learn more, read below.

Yay!
So, work was good today. It looks like I'm moving off phones into development work, as there are now several projects for me to work on. Plus, we got a new coffee maker. It holds water for 3 pots of coffee. Very exciting.

Plus, the database for almost the full Open Directory Project has been parsed and placed online. You can see a demo of it here. Once I write up a few clients to use that information to organize bookmarks it will be much more useful.

If anyone's interested, click here ) for a description of how to use it in your own programs. The code might be mine, but the without the data, and all the editors at ODP who contributed to it, it'd be useless. So visit dmoz next time you think of Yahoo! It's a pretty cool directory.

Besides that, nothing else is really new. Except I had some really tasty yam fries at this vegetarian restaurant in Ann Arbor. Crack Fries is more like it. mmm.. yam fries.
